Damon's quick and dirty motorcycle web page!
Looks like it's time for some updates. Here is what my bike looks like now July 2005 with military surplus BB600 NiCads and my Alltrax 48v 400amp controller.

Sparky my motorcycle sitting next to Elmo my hybrid. I like the look much better with the smaller batteries.

A close up of the control cluster. That's a pocket size volt meter I got from Radio Shack. It's stuck on with sticky tack so that I can take it off and use it in a pinch.

A view from the other side. Notice the empty space in front of the rear wheel. I am building an onboard charger I will be putting there. I think I will make it so that it is easily removeable, so that I am not always carrying it around with me.

Just put the motor where the motor goes and you don't have to mess with chain tensioners etc... I never did get that to work right. If you have never worked with a motorcycle before, here's a tip, it is important that the chain go around the swingarm. You can also see the connection end of my Alltrax controller.
No sense taking the old stuff down I guess. Here's what it used to be.

A close up of my front sprocket and chain tensioner. Because the motor was mounted from the frame, the chain goes slack when the swing arm comes up going over bumps.

Here you can see my surplus 6.7" ADC motor that at one time was destined to go into a Tropica. It's squeezed in between all those NiCads.

This is the view of me you see going up steep hills.

This is the view of me you see going down steep hills, actually I think I will beef up the brakes before I go down any steep hills.

I have mounted my controller in the airflow/road debris zone. I need to add some heat sinking then I will strategically place a shield to protect my controller but allow air to flow through.
