David y Mariana!
David Orly-Thompson
has been dancing Argentine tango for more than 15 years. He began his dance career
training wth the cast of the famed musical, Forever Tango. In 2000 the bay
area native moved to Buenos Aires to undergo intensive training in Argentine tango with
notable tango dancers Gustavo Naveira, Giselle Ann and Mariano Frumboli. There David
met Mariana Ancarola, who became his tango partner. Together they moved to Spain and
began their teaching career.
Mariana Ancarola was born to Argentinean immigrants in
Spain, and was raised in both Spain and Argentina. She grew up listening to tango
music, and as a teenager studied ballet and modern dance. At the age of 17 Mariana
began studying Argentine tango, and trained with luminaries such as Gustavo Naveira,
Giselle Ann and Mariano Frumboli. She began her successful career as a tango teacher
in Spain, in 2003.
In 2007 David &
Mariana moved to the San Francisco bay area, where they teach, perform, and
host milongas. Their most memorable sold-out performance was Tango: A Romantic
Ritual on Valentine weekend in 2009. |
