Here is what the Winner of the contest of the KROQ/Depeche Mode video contest told about the shooting of Dream On :

Hi everybody, I was the winner of the KROQ/Depeche Mode video contest on Friday on
Tami's show. I know I probably sounded like a jerk with the "ha ha sucks to be you" but I
couldn't help myself. The folks who were guessing before me didn't know Stripped. I'll give
               more details later on today.

And let me just say that these guys are the nicest, honest most down to earth guys you
ever want to meet. They didn't have that rock star attitude nor any signs of "I'm better than
               you".

Some highlights/details I can give you right now: A limo picked us up and drove us all the
way to an area near Barstow on the famous Route 66. I'm not allowed to divulge the name of
the director..but he speaks French. The minute we got out at the hotel they were staying at,
my wife and I were greeted by John (the manager) and Dave. Dave asked how we won, said
congrats and had to change clothes. We then met Fletch, Ivan (the tour manager) and their
new publicist. They were all just nice people.

Later in the day while they were shooting some of Dave's scenes..we were in a van with
Martin, Martin's daughter and Andy...for over an hour. And we just talked a little about the
album, the tour, songs they may/may not do, and just life in general. At one point Martin
had to relieve himself off the side of the road since we were in the middle of nowhere. And
his daughter was yelling "don't look..don't look".

When we had lunch, I was expecting the guys to eat in their dressing rooms/trailers;but no,
they ate with the rest of us. Dave even checked up on us.."How are you guys doing over
there?" And we gave him a big thumbs up. There's more to tell and I promise to get to
it...the shoot for that day was about 11 hours long and they have more to do today (without
               the band).

So you guys want details... They had dressing rooms/trailers but when we went to different
locations..we all rode in a van. I talked to Martin, Fletch and their publicist Michelle (very
nice and sweet young lady) about the tour.

They are going to start in June in Toronto and end up in California most likely in mid August.

They have programmed 24 songs but they'll decide what songs they'll do on what nights. As
most of you know they change about 2-3 songs per night. Unfortunately, they won't do
Stripped..it's gotten too old. And a certain Andrew may break out a bass guitar.
I asked Martin if he was going to have the usual wardrobe of black shorts and silver
suspenders or mesh shirt. And he said no..he was afraid he might be considered another
Angus from AC/DC. They had the best catering service...mahi mahi, marinated tri tip,
               chicken, assorted vegetables.

And as the day went on and on and on a young lady from the caterers would bring the crew
stuff to munch on. Some funny quotes...while we were driving on this empty piece of road,
we were looking at the little holes and burrows in the ground. Fletch was remarking about
how rattlesnakes and scorpions live down there. So Martin then said "and the ugliest
scorpions around are the ones from Germany" which got a big laugh.

At one point the van that we were in made a stop in a little gas station/mini-mart. Andy went
to have a cigarette and Martin was yelling "Hey, you can't smoke at a petrol station!!" I
               thought it was hilarious.

And inside the mini-mart I was looking to see if the clerks recognized Martin and Fletch but
they didn't seem to care. Let me just re-iterate that Depeche Mode are the nicest, humblest
guys in rock and roll. These guys could've given us a "congrats and have fun" and then done
their own thing. But no, they hung out with me and my wife.

We must have spent maybe 5-6 hours of conversation/hanging out with Fletch alone. Poor
Dave was always filming something somewhere. It's hard to believe that a band that has
played in stadiums and huge arenas actually gave a damn about their fans. And I'll assume
that most of you have heard "Dream On" or a snippet of it, so you know it has that acoustic
"Personal Jesus" vibe to it. And by the way...nobody looked at Martin while he was
               indisposed.

               Harold.
