Bob Koenig
owner, manager, pit crew

Bob was born 25 July 1950 in Longview, Washington. He attended R.A. Long High School, then earned degrees from Lower Columbia College (AA), Central Washington University (BA), and the University of Portland (MBA). He currently teaches at Mark Morris High School in Longview; he is also the assistant softball coach and helps with student activities and sporting events. He retired several years ago from Weyerhaeuser Company, where he was a safety director and project engineer for many years.

Bob has earned a Safety Professional of the Year award, been in (and won!) several state and national fastpitch softball tournaments, and been recognized as the all-state shortstop and third baseman. Now for his hobbies, he enjoys camping, fishing, and all varieties of sports. He also lists the design of his current home and the raising of his two children under his finer accomplishments.

An armchair spectator of racing events for years, Bob has also attended several CART races at Portland International Raceway, and used to race go-karts as a child. Now he is getting the chance to indulge his soft spot for karting once again, this time by managing 2K Racing.

Along with developing a competitive go-kart racing team, Bob's goals include visiting all fifty states, providing a fun and challenging environment for his students, and being a great father.

Joe Koenig
driver, pit crew
Born on 14 October 1980, Joe graduated from Toutle Lake High School in 1999. In school, he played football, going to the state championships twice. He also competed in track and field, placing sixth and seventh in state championships in that as well. His events were the 100- and 200-meter sprints, the relay, and the long and high jumps. He received an Outstanding Male Athlete award in 1997.

Joe also performed in five plays during his three years in drama, and acted as class treasurer his junior and senior years. He also spent quite a bit of time working on photography. His hobbies now include boating, racing, skiing, and many other outdoor sports, as well as computer information, networking, and repair. Joe also enjoys movies, music, and cars, both classic and racing. He celebrated the birth of his first child, Alexandria Miette, in August 2003, and is eagerly awaiting the second, who is scheduled to join us in November 2007. After living and working in Longview since he graduated high school, Joe moved to The Dalles, OR, for a promotion within his company in April 2007. He had been attending Lower Columbia College, and will continue his schooling in The Dalles.

Joe raced in the Senior Superbox class in 2002, his rookie season. He got off to a great racing start by taking the championship! The following year, he furthered all of our expectations by simultaneously competing in the Senior Superbox and the Formula K-1 classes, and ended up with both championships! This dual-championship feat was repeated in 2004. In 2005, he moved on to road racing until extensive damages grounded 2K Racing for the time being. He hopes to get back into racing, and attend some driving schools someday.

Danielle Koenig
webmaster, graphic design
Danielle hails from Longview as well, born on 28 August 1978, although she now resides in Lacey, Washington. Educated at Toutle Lake High School, she took two years off after her graduation as valedictorian in 1996 to travel, work, and develop close lifelong friendships with several people. In 1998 she began attending Pacific Lutheran University, from which she graduated in May 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and minors in Publishing and Printing Arts, Latin, and Philosophy. In addition to jobs in and after college as a computer tech and an office administrator, she did freelance web design and book editing. She now works full time as a copy editor in the journalism field.

When she is not slaving over her computer or her books, Danielle enjoys reading, crafts (especially paper crafts, beading, book arts, abstract design, and sewing), visiting with friends, listening to music, and theatre (attending, acting, and discussing). In the nicer weather she likes to hike near mountains and rivers, climb trees, raft, bike, and play a bit of baseball and night tag. The winter sees her enjoying downhill skiing, snowshoeing if she can, and sledding. She is also a hopeless devotee of classical fantasy. She collects books, art supplies, and memories.

Her work at 2K Racing stimulates her because it allows her to explore the fields of web development, graphic design, and editing.
