Now
to put it all back together. The game turned out to have a problem with
the power supply board. I borrowed another one and it fired right up!
I'm still working on getting my board fixed..

I
completely stripped the coin door, sanded off the rusting paint
and repainted it with Rustoleum hammered paint. I drilled out the
rivets that hold the Midway logo on, and epoxied them back in place
after painting, along with double sided tape to help hold the plate
on. I polished the chrome as best I could and reassembled. |
 |
The
original cardboard that held the yellow tinted plastic was really
nasty, so I bought some mat board and used the original as a template. |
 |
Here's
the back art back in place. It's stapled to the sides of the cab
and along the bottom. |

Here
she is, back together and running! I replaced quite a few parts
on the power supply board, but the motherboard didn't need any
work. I got lucky on that one!
I'd
like to thank all the people who helped me. I couldn't have done
it without the help of local collectors, and several others from
the newsgroups.
A
special shout out to Rob, Chris and Jeff!

Here's
a shot with the room lights out. It's hard to get a decent picture
without the flash, but this one turned out pretty good!
You
can see how the cabinet has lights in the top and in the middle,
unlike most arcade games. There are 7 wedge bulb lights in the
upper marquee, a cool white florecent light in the middle and
a black light florecent light in the top that faces backwards
to make the artwork inside the cabinet glow.

This
is a closeup of the game. It's reflected in a mirror, so it looks
like it's floating in the machine. The same effect is used in Asteroids
Deluxe and Space Invaders. |
