I'm Benjamin Chambers. I've relied on my writing and editing skills to make a living for the past 20 years. These days, I'm based in Portland, OR.

Grew up in Denver ... was educated at The University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis ... worked as a grantwriter and direct mail fundraiser while writing and editing membership newsletters ... switched to juvenile justice policy ... and now I edit a blog devoted to teens in the justice system struggling with alcohol and drugs, and teach writing when I can.

In addition to writing and editing work for nonprofits, businesses, and individuals, I edit an award-winning online literary journal, The King's English. I've taught fiction to undergraduates and adults, been fiction editor of The Chicago Review, published nearly 20 stories and essays, and edited literary fiction and nonfiction.

Feel free to visit my literary blog or Emdashes, where I write an irregular column about fiction from The New Yorker magazine.

If you'd like to talk with me about your next writing project, you can reach me at (503) 709-1917, or simply drop me an email.
