Bio - Who I Am
I'm Benjamin Chambers. I've relied on my writing and editing skills to make a living for the past 20 years. I'm based in Portland, Oregon.
Grew up in Denver ... was educated at The University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis ... worked as a grantwriter and direct mail fundraiser while writing and editing membership newsletters ... switched to juvenile justice policy ... and now I edit, manage and produce content for the social media channels of a national juvenile justice initiative (blog, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube as well).
In addition to writing and editing work for nonprofits, businesses, and individuals, I edited an award-winning online literary journal, The King's English for five years. I've taught fiction to undergraduates and adults, been fiction editor of The Chicago Review, published nearly 20 stories and essays, and edited literary fiction and nonfiction.

Emdashes,
where I used to
write irregular columns related to The New Yorker magazine, usually
about its fiction.
