I've been lucky to have visited Hong Kong twice.
If I remember correctly (scratching my head here) it was one time before
the "handover" (from being a colony ? or lease to the U.K. back to mainland
China) and one time afterwards. It didn't feel very different from one time to the next,
but I suspect one of the big reasons is because regular mainland Chinese citizens
need a visa to visit Hong Kong.
The scenery is dramatic both from the ground...
... and from the air.
For being such a busy metropolis, Hong Kong certainly has a number of quiet
areas. This is a park in the center of the city, near Mount Victoria.
And one of my friends got me onto a ferry and out to Lamma Island, which I was extremely
impressed with.
I was bummed to leave the City (and my friend), but the airport lounge I spent time in
was a bit of a consolation. Wow. The airport puts any place in the U.S.A. to shame.
