Comments: This is a wide angle shot of the Cone Nebula region of the constellation Monoceros. This star forming region is located near Orion the Hunter and encompasses a vast cloud of hydrogen and dust. The Cone Nebula lies at the bottom of the bright triangular region on the left side of the photograph. The cone points back upward toward the star S Mon. Trumpler 5 is an older open cluster of about 150 stars that displays a yellowish color to the right and up from the Cone.
