This page is a history and summary and review of an idea I had one day.
After my knife pouch disintegrated and the bottom fell out of it, I decided that it was time to design a new and improved one. I did the research, design, improvements, templates, and cutting myself. The sewing I left to my fiancée. Together, I hope to produce quality items that will be durable and functional.
Materials: outdoor nylon, polyester thread
Process:
1. Measure object (knife, flashlight, etc)
2. Put basic dimensions into AutoCAD
3a. Create template for cutting/sewing (including 1/4" stitching area)
3b. Add improvements (reinforced edges, double-stitching?, different closure system, etc)
4. Print template on paper
5. Cut and tape the paper template and test fitting of object ( = "rough fit")
6. If #5 works, cut out nylon form
7. Sew it together
8. Final test!! - Does it really work??
Items to Make:
Knife pouch: This will be for a cheap "Buck Knife" style of folder. It's my utility knife, so it's nothing special. I just need a new pouch for it to keep it on my belt.
Cell phone holder: Keeping my cell phone in my pants pocket is troublesome when I'm sitting down (especially in the car) and have to "dig it out" to answer it. A belt pouch for it would be an awesome thing.
Flashlight holder: I have a small LED flashlight that I would love to carry easily in a pouch.
Single magazine holder
Double magazine holder
