Springfield Armory XD-9 sub-compact (#1)

This was my first ever handgun. I bought it in Chadds Ford (PA) the day before Father's Day, 2005. It was brand new, came with a standard 10-round mag, and one of the new high capacity mags (15-rounds w/ sleeve), and of course a lock, manual, and pretty black case. I had to wait extra to get it, since the FBI delayed my application for some unknown reason. For those who are curious, it cost $420 (no sales tax) out the door, plus $25 for the DE transfer.

I bought it because I've always sort of been "into" guns and have wanted one for a while now, but wasn't in the friendliest environment to enjoy them until recently. I wanted to get my CCDW license eventually, so I chose the sub-compact model, thinking the smaller size would be good for daily carry.

My fiancée liked shooting it so much, I bought her one of her own. To make it special (it was an early Christmas present), I had it colored just for her. It's a pretty gun. Take a look at it here

I'm still getting used to my stance, grip, breathing, aim, etc. Especially since I learned of a better way to do things, thanks to a Sergeant in the Army who was practicing at my range on 10.09.2005. I'm incorporating all that he taught me into my regular way of things.

I won't list all the technical data about the gun here. Springfield Armory did a good job at that. Follow the link here.
