Springfield Armory XD-9 sub-compact (#2)

This was bought as a gift for my fiancée. She liked shooting my XD-9 subbie so much that I decided to get her one of her own.  I bought it in Delaware at my local gun shop in August 2005. I had seen it in the glass case, bottom shelf, looking almost new. I asked to see it, he took it out, and said it was "used but never fired." I checked it out from head to toe. Sure enough, it only had a little wear on it from being shown to people. It came with a standard 10-round magazine (only one), and of course a lock, manual, and pretty black case. I had to wait an extra day to get it, thanks to the State Police and an "upgrade" to their computer system. For those who are curious, it cost $330.00 out the door (no sales tax in DE).

Isn't it pretty?  :)

I had decided to get it colored to make it very special for her (it was an early Christmas present). I chose the blue for the slide because my fiancée likes cobalt blue glass. I wanted it to be even fancier, so I went with the silver parts option as well. I'm glad R/T Performance (from the gun forums) didn't have a copyright on that color scheme, because my fiancée really loved it! I had looked into other color combinations, but felt this one was definitely the right one. Special thanks to Richard Dettelhouser of Canyon Creek for the excellent work on the Gun Kote. And, also special thanks to James Nicholas of xd-hs2000 for the silver lacquer stick so I could do the lettering. Both guys are very friendly and professional, and had a fast turn-around time. Thanks guys!!
