Well, on the morning of
May 28, 2006 I called a few gun dealers in the area inquiring about new/used
XD-9 service (4" bbl) handguns, conditions, and prices. This was strictly
out of curiosity.
There was one XD-9 service at the same place I got my first subbie (TargetMaster
in PA). This 4" all-black model was used, came w/ a case and manual and (2)
10-round magazines. I field stripped it to check it out. I looked for
obvious (to me) issues, like excessive wear, cracks, fractures, etc. It
looked really nice to me (still even nicely oiled). The only major blemish
was that the barrel end had a lot of wear, which (I believe) is normal from
it actually being used (fired).
So, with its nice condition, great feel in my hands, and the awesome price
tag ($300), I bought it! (No sales tax if transferred to DE). I just
couldn't pass up such a seemingly sweet deal! Now my two subbies have a big
brother to play with. And I have another XD-9 in my collection, now
one w/ a longer sight radius.

Bought 2 more 10-round magazines, bringing the total mags for this handgun up to 4.
