You may check out my range reports here, as long as you promise not to laugh at me. I know I'm not very good. But I'm trying! I only wish I could afford the time and money to go to the range more often. I label each of my targets that I shoot up. The basic method is mm.dd.yyyy.ss-n where: mm=month, dd=day, yyyy=year, ss=set number (1 set = 4 targets up at once), and n=location (1=upper left, 2=lower left, 3=upper right, 4=lower right). Maybe it's a complicated way, but it made sense to me at the time. Basically, I put up 4 targets at a time on the backboard. Then I shoot in the "location" order.
I foresee this page getting very long, so I may break it up at a later date. For now, the scroll bar will be your friend. :)
06.18.2005 (Saturday afternoon)
100 rounds. Used 4 B-34 RC Targets, between 10 and 40 rounds per target.
Target Master in Chadds Ford, PA. As a Father's Day present, my fiancée took me here so I could test drive some handguns. I had always wanted a 9mm, and I was figuring I'd get my Concealed Carry License eventually, so I wanted to try some sub-compact sized handguns. I had read many articles on the XD series from Springfield Armory, so I knew I wanted to try one of those. I also read about the Glock's indestructibility so I tried one, too.
This was my first time shooting a gun (I'm not counting my BB gun YEARS ago). I rented the XD-9, and a Glock. The Glock felt top-heavy, and awkward. I also got to shoot someone's 9mm Ruger for a few rounds. I didn't like that, either.
I used 4 of the B-34 RC targets (bought at the range). I'm not sure on the distance. It was probably about 25 feet.

07.09.2005 (Saturday @ 1:30pm-2:30pm)
120 rounds total: 12 NRA #B16 targets, 10 rounds per target.
Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center in New Castle, DE. Nice range. $5/person for an hour at their pistol/rifle range. It's covered by a non-continuous roof, so it's naturally vented, but open to the elements in places. Run by Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife, part of DNREC. Bring your own ammo (they don't sell any), bring your own targets, bring your own protection (or use their free foamie plugs). The Range Officers are pretty friendly (Bob), and some are quite knowledgeable about guns (Jack).

10.19.2005 (Wednesday @ 5:30pm-6:30pm)
80 rounds total: 8 bull's-eye targets, 10 rounds per target
Ommelanden. Practiced rapid-fire (about 1 shot every second) at a distance of 20 feet. Focused on stance and grip. Focused on the trigger "click" and the feel of the trigger. I've noticed that I shoot the best at the beginning of the session, and go downhill fast after that. I'll have to figure out why. I can't imagine I'm that tired already. I DID notice that I keep losing focus on the front sight. My eyes start focusing on both the front and rear sights (to make sure the shot is lined up I guess).

06.11.2006 (Sunday)
Took the Savage up to TargetMaster along with Jody, to put it head-to-head with his scoped Marlin Papoose. Tried various ammo. Shoots very nicely.
06.21.2006 (Wednesday, about 6:00pm - 7:00pm)
20 rounds XD-9 subbie
20 rounds XD-9 service
80 rounds Mark II-F
Went to Ommelanden after work for an hour. Shot two mags with the XD-9 subbie and then two mags with the XD-9 service. Still low left at times. RO (Bob) had been watching me, and he told me that it might be me squeezing too much w/ left hand which will rotate the gun that way. He also said that it's about trigger control, too. Ugh!!!
Shot 4 rounds (4 stages each) of AQT targets w/ the Savage. Used AQT target at 25m. Standing, Sitting/Kneeling, and prone positions. I did ok really suck. I had trouble seeing the stage 3 and 4 target silhouettes. I need a scope!!
08.26.2006 (Saturday all day)
