November 1, 2009 http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=336562731&s=143441 October 31, 2009 Thanks! From the best show I've ever seen October 15, 2009 September 17, 2009 August 23, 2009 August 15, 2009 In recording this album I did everything I could to make it sound like it was recorded in the 1960s. All the sessions took place at Fry Pharmacy, where- unlike the usual recordings made these days- the whole band played the songs live in one room and every song was recorded onto tape instead of onto disk. Take a listen and you'll hear the difference. This is something I've always wanted to do, and I'd like to thank Hank Willis for making it happen. So check it out... It's another album of all original material with another great band that I'm sure you'll enjoy! More news coming soon! August 9, 2009 Check out "Passport to Great Weekends" with Samantha Brown this Saturday 8/15/09 at 10PMe/9PMc on the Travel Channel. They filmed in Nashville recently and will feature some Dave Cox songs on the show. July 3, 2009 Unbridled Enthusiasm will be available by the end of the month. Here's the track listing: ![]() May 17, 2009 I'm currently working on a new album to be out some time in July. We're recording it at the majestic Fry Pharmacy- all in analog on a big old fat tape machine. I'm trying to document the process in photos that you can see on my MySpace page. Some of the titles you can expect to see on this upcoming album are The Nashville Antonym, Cold Blooded Murder, I Miss My Mistress, Please Remove Your Foot From My Face, and Watch Out! More news to come soon! April 14th, 2009 A whole hell of a lot has happened since last September. There's a lot up in the air right now that can hopefully result in some good things happening soon, and I will update this page with details about those things when I can. In the meantime I can tell you this: I'm still doing my regular thing on Broadway 4 days a week. Check out the schedule page for the current days/times. Thanks for your support! Hope to see you soon... somewhere... October 8th, 2008 September 2008 CHARLIE WALKER ![]() 1926-2008 Most folks recognize Mr. Walker for hit tunes like "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down" and "Please Don't Squeeze My Sharmon," but dig a little deeper and you'll discover a wealth of songs that were both risque and innovative. It was probably a big surprise to the industry when he recorded a way cool version of "Honky Tonk Women" that got him in a little hot water when he performed it on the Opry. However, the Rolling Stones song fit perfectly into his large repertoire of songs about drinking, bars and women. See if you can track down his tunes "Ode to Stella," "Got My Mind on the Border of Mexico" or "I Wouldn't Take Her to A Dogfight" to hear just how cool and risque his songs were at a time when no other popular artist was recording such material. Songs like "Wild Women" and "Who Will Buy the Wine" pretty much define the old Texas honky tonk shuffle, and while most folks consider Ray Price to be the king of the shuffle I always identified with Mr. Walker's music much more... It was ahead of it's time. I got to meet Mr. Walker a few years ago. I was flabbergasted at the time to be meeting such a legend, and I recall going on and on about some of my favorite songs of his. He was very humble and even seemed like he was surprised that I knew of such songs. He was one of the last of a dying breed- truly a legend... September 2008 JERRY REED ![]() 1937-2008 I had the honor of meeting Mr. Reed a few years ago after one of his shows in Nashville, Indiana. What a thrill it was for me to talk with him and for him to call me "Son!" He was so quick-witted... I remember during the show he paused to ask the audience for requests. I got his attention and asked him to play one of his goofiest tunes- "Broken Heart Attack" and without pause he looked at me and said, "Son, I'm gonna kill you." Classic... Jerry Reed was much more than a fine actor and novelty man... Just check out some of his RCA cuts from the late 60s and early 70s... "Today is Mine," "Guitar Man," "Sittin' on Top of the World" and countless others are all undeniable. And just listen to "Georgia on My Mind" one time and you'll agree that there was never a better rendition. A true original- Jerry Reed was one of the best... August 7, 2008 ![]() HERE IT IS! July 28, 2008 The packaging is in the vein of classic vinyl and the disc is all black with grooves- just like a little record... Very neat. Best of all this 26 song CD will be available for just $11.11 beginning next week. Check back here on August 5th for the link to buy it through CD Baby. If the mp3s of the album would be your preference then those files are available now through Digstation, and will soon be available through all the usual outlets such as Itunes, Amazon, etc. Schedule note: Now that this CD is done I'm taking a few days off so I won't be playing between July 28 - August 1st... Hope to see you soon after when my regular schedule resumes, and be sure to check back here August 5th for "GREATEST MISSES" ..... Thanks! June 23, 2008 And, of course, the CDs are always available- just click one of them there covers, Frank. One last note on mp3 download options... I would almost always prefer myself to have a CD as opposed to mp3 files. It's just more fun to have all the cover art- inside and out- and have something physical you can actually hold in your hands. But I'm strange like that. Hell, I'd rather listen to a record than a CD any day. However, the times they are a changin' and mp3 sales have been a great benefit to me and countless other strugglers in the music world. A lot of folks download my music mainly from ITunes because they already have accounts with them. But I would encourage you to take a look at the mp3 downloads directly from CD Baby. You can download the entire album as one zip download, which includes not just the MP3s, but also a JPG of the album art and a text file of song titles and album notes. They're the regular MP3 files that play easily on ANY MP3 player, whether it be an iPod, cellphone, Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia, Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. Also, the MP3s are encoded at top-audiophile-quality (~200k VBR), higher than iTunes or any other major store... Just seems like a better deal to me. The next CD is on the horizon... A summation of my time in Nashville- Greatest Misses will be out in July... 26 songs, 79 minutes long... Stay tuned, and thanks so much for your support hose. June 18, 2008 June 15, 2008 Another note of interest- In addition to Itunes and all the other online mp3 outlets, my first three albums are now available for download from Amazon.com. Over And Out and the forthcoming Greatest Misses will also be available for mp3 download eventually, but it will probably take a few months. June 3, 2008 One other note- I have a great friend who is also a great talent. If you enjoy my music then you will absolutley love the music from Eric Solomon- a great songwriter/singer/guitarist based in Columbus, OH. Check out his website and new CD at EricSolo.com ![]() ![]() February 8, 2008 |
