10/26/07: Website
keeps overall look and feel, but gets some major
additions to the homepage. The picture on the
homepage stays the same, but the description box is
removed. The news box gets changed to simply tell
what our website is all about, and gets a new
section/picture linking to the pictures section.
Below all this a YouTube video player, and play list
with all of our YouTube videos has been added. The
links on the left have been re-ordered, and split
into groups. The News link/page has been removed as
we continue to place more emphasis on our bogs and
less on updating this website frequently. The old
pictures section has been taken down and replaced
with the new Picture Hosting page on our server
which is updated frequently. Our overall goal now is
to make thewaltermyers.com a one stop place to link
to everything that is actually updated frequently;
our blogs, our videos, our pictures, etc. The site
itself will see little changes day to day, but the
content it links to will update frequently.
10/11/06: The
new blue banner and color scheme is implemented for
a more elegant look and feel in an effort to move
the site into something that doesn't have to be
updated so often. Picture on homepage is changed to
picture from the cruise this year, and News box is
updated.
3/31/06: New
banner and color scheme for homepage for a
spring/summer feel.
12/27/05: New
section added to "Photo Galleries" of our house
decorated for Christmas.
10/11/05: "Pictures"
section gets a (much needed) new look. Renamed
within section from "jen n' dave's picture place" to
"Photo Galleries." Picture section also gets a new
Gallery for the Labor Day trip.
10/3/05: "Website
History" page gets a "makeover" with slightly
different color scheme, and an easier to navigate
streamlined design. History entries are now listed
from the newest first, to the oldest last, instead
of the former opposite.
9/18/05: Homepage gets
a "makeover" with new color scheme, new background
jpegs and new banner (thanks Jen!). Website
Information at bottom of homepage gets a more
streamlined look. Rebuilt page so that for users of
1024x768 resolution and up would not have to scroll
horizontally to view entire page. Centered entire
layout of home page. Updated homepage layout allows
for more buttons so now "jenBLOG" and "daveBLOG"
buttons each have their own full-sized, easier to
read buttons.
8/23/05: Changed homepage picture. Changed
background .jpeg for buttons on homepage. Changed "Contact Info" button to read
"Contact Us". Added new section in "Pictures" for the Braves game we went to.
Added "Mini-Sections" to left hand side of "Pictures" section to list previous
picture pages linked on the homepage.
6/22/05: Designed new logo for our
website and implemented it into a new top banner for our homepage. "jen n' dave
online" has officially changed names to "www.thewaltermeyers.com."
Changed font on homepage to match new look. Added new banner to pictures page
for people to use to link to our site. Our site is now #1 when you search for "waltermyer"
on www.google.com! Completely redesigned
"Links" page with a new look, now is fully compatible with Firefox browsers.
More links added too.
6/6/05: Built the much-anticipated
"Pictures" Section. So far there are 3 categories: Our Honeymoon, Our Wedding,
and the "Before Pictures" of our house. More sections and pictures coming soon.
Built the honeymoon pictures section. Updated the "Wedding" section to reflect
that the wedding had already happened. The "Wedding" Section will so be removed
and be replaced by something else, whenever we decide what that might be.
Removed duplicate entries in guestbook and updated color scheme. Made some
updates to the new wedding photos section.
6/5/05: Competed a new section for our
wedding photos. Changed picture on home page.
4/22/05: Completed the "Before Pictures"
section in the "Our House" portion of our webpage, visitors can now see what out
house looked like when we bought it.
4/20/05: Changed The Message Boards to be
called The Guestbook. Because of many requests (thanks Momby and others), added
"View Guestbook" button in place of "The Wedding" button so that visitors do not
have to sign in order to see the Guestbook. Moved "The Wedding" button in place
of "david-land" button. Replaced "jen's corner" button with smaller "jen" and "dave"
buttons on one line. Renamed "Message Boards" button to "Sign Guestbook".
4/12/05: Our new domain,
www.thewaltermyers.com is now fully
resolving everywhere. Hope to have the time to register our site with all the
major search engines soon. Took down original message board because of
complaints about the ads, and because someone had already begun abusing it.
Replaced it with new message board though my Comcast service. No ads no, and
should be more secure. Built and set up the "Contact Us" button so visitors can
send us feedback.
4/10/05: Rebuilt homepage to be
compatible with the Firefox web browser. Home page now has a slightly different
look as a result. Website is now tested and compatible with Internet Explorer 6
and Firefox (all except for "The Cadillac" section, I will update this to work
with Firefox later). Thanks to Matt for alerting us of the Firefox issues. We
have now purchased
www.thewaltermyers.com via the services of
www.godaddy.com, and set it up to automatically forward to
http://home.comcast.net/~davedogcaddy. It should be active in about 24hrs.
Until then website can still be accessed via old address at
http://home.comcast.net/~davedogcaddy. Removed old visitor counter that had
ad links for one that has no ads and logs stats of my webpage. Service is from
www.statcounter.com. Set up "The
Wedding section.
4/7/05: Built "News" page. Built "Links"
page. Updated buttons on homepage to reflect changes made. Created
"under construction" page for
buttons on homepage that do not yet have pages to link to. Linked "The
Volkswagen" button to Jen's RankMyRide
homepage until we have time to build her very own section for her car.
4/6/04: Page gets new look as I switch
from "dave's website" to "jen n' dave online". Some things are copied over, most
is new. Cadillac section remains. Finished new homepage. Implemented new message
board button & set up message board via
[REMOVED]* Added page hit counter to
home page via
[REMOVED]*. Set up new page history and copied
history from old home page (old page is no longer
updated, and is no longer fully fuctional).
*Edit: I no longer
use these sites' services, and do not wish to promote them.
9/10/04: Continued development on new
site, new additions include: functional "Links" page, fuctional "My Cadillac"
page
9/9/04: Ditched Comcast's lousy web site
design program for FrontPage 2003, and started really putting this site
together....please be patient this is only my second "real" website.
9/1/04: Began creation of "dave's
website" on my newly acquired web space from Comcast.
