Welcome to Flat Spot Racing, Flatspotter's simracing website. This site has information on my race frame, how I built it, and how to hook up bass shakers. I've also added tutorials on how to use the Logitech G15 keyboard's LCD display as a standalone unit, and how to make a button box and gear display using a Plasma-Lite USB module.

The site is composed of seven main sections:

I finished the initial construction of my frame in December 2002, after owning a commercial frame for about a year. I wasn't satisfied with the commercial frame's design or quality, so I scoured the net for something better. I found plenty of better cockpits and frames, but nothing that fit my needs perfectly. Every one had something wrong or missing. At that point, having already built my own wheel and sequential shifter, I decided to build my own frame.

I spent about 75-100 hours on the design of the frame, drawing and rejecting a lot of ideas before settling on the final configuration. It took about two months to get all the parts together, and about 75-100 hours to construct. From start to finish, the project spanned about 10 months. The purpose of this project was to build exactly what I wanted -- a no-holds-barred, sturdy race frame. I wouldn't go so far as to say money was no object, but it was less of a consideration than making a solid, functional cockpit.
