This webpage was created only to enable me to share tunes. Previous to creating this page I was in the habit of throwing a file on the server and emailing the URL for a given file to interested parties. A couple of ISPs ago I was blocked from using that method and was forced by policy to create a webpage with links to the files I wanted to share. This occurred about the time that I wrote "Planxty Dale Wisely" which a fair number of contributors to the Chiff & Fipple Messageboard wanted access to. While I no longer am forced to share files via links on a page I decided to leave this site up anyway... DdlB
I should have put notice on this site some time ago that the MIDI files are not real friendly to Quicktime. Or perhaps it is the other way around. Quicktime doe not seem to know how to handle important dynamics like differences in volume for the assorted instruments. So what should sound quite and nice and in the background will come blasting forth if you use Quicktime and thus sound like total rubbish. Windows Media Player does a fair job of it but I don't know what to suggest for Mac users. Sorry :-)

I no longer have the luxury of ample space for MP3 files. If you want to hear real people playing this tune rather than the soulless midi rendition,
I suggest the Tin Whistle Tunes website (formerly known as "Clips & Snips"). At one time there were 3 different postings there.
Two that were under "Slow Airs" now have broken links. The remaining one is under "Original" and nicely played by
whistle maker Gary Humphrey played in the key of E.
* For the uninitiated, Dale Wisely is responsible for the Chiff and Fipple website. This tune was intended as a thanks for this service to whistle players worldwide.

* This tune has shown up in a few online ABC databases with the erroneous title "Rosemary Came Dunn's". Whoever was responsible misread the
Irish half uncial calligraphy on their photocopy that read "Rosemary Caine Dunn's". The "Dunn" was dropped from the title when Rosie reverted to her
maiden name. Another error in the ABCs of the "Came" version is a resolution of the B part with a second ending. I have no idea who did this but quite frankly I hate it.

†I wrote this tune while grieving the loss of my friend and fellow musician, Tom Holder. Tom, a fiddle player from Plainfield
Massachusetts, was well known for his expertise at repairing fiddles as well as playing them. It was always a delight to see him show up to a
session. He was a warm and kind as well as talented individual. Tom lost his life on May 31, 1999 in an accident involving his ultralight aircraft.
His death was a loss keenly felt in many circles in the Pioneer Valley

** Written with fond memories of Kevin Hutchinson, husband to my musical comrade Marese, who left this world on St. Stephen's Day 2008.
He was laid to rest at Kilmore Cemetery, Silvermines, County Tipperary, Ireland

A little about me...
I have been performing Celtic music for about 30 years. Aside from singing I plays tinwhistle, Scottish smallpipe, bodhrán, anglo concertina, English Border Pipes, spoons, piano, and dabble in too many others to mention. For several years through the 80’s and early 90’s I played and sang with the quartet "Cáirde" based in the Pioneer Valley area of western Massachusetts. I was also a sometimes musician (playing “pipe & tabor” & Highland Bagpipe) for the Juggler Meadow Morris Men of Amherst, MA. I have done studio work for Jonathen Stevens on his vinyl LP album "Creationland" (Flying Fish Records) and most recently for Richard Berman on his CD “Love, Work and Play” and for Jonathan Klate on his CD “Forever Now”. In 1990 I arranged and performed traditional Irish music for the UMass (Amherst) production of "Playboy of the Western World”. In the spring of 1991 it won nationwide college theater competition and was performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in April of that year. Over the years back in the Pioneer Valley I have also played with a variety of ad hoc bands custom designed for performing at wedding celebrations/ceremonies, etc. I also participated in the annual production of “Welcome Yule” as a musician and/or chorus member for many years. Now residing in Gloucester I have also been a fairly regular musician onboard the schooner Thomas E. Lannon for their Celtic cruises. Also since moving to Cape Ann I have performed at the Boston Celtic Music Festival, the Irish Connections Festival, The Volvo Ocean Race Festival, Salem Maritime Festival, Portsmouth Maritime Festival, and Shamrock for HAWC Benefit concerts.

Cheers,
David de la Barre
