I first learned HTML way back in the 1990s, and for a while I could pretty much keep up with the pace of advances in coding web pages. However, that soon changed, and I quickly gave up trying to be anywhere near the state of the art. Anyone who saw my pages before this update knows I speak the truth! In finally making my site look more modern, I am indebted to the following people, whose work has enabled me to make some progress.
The overall design is heavily modified from the "Relic" website template by Kevin Cannon, kmcannon [at] telus [dot] net. I found the template on the Open Web Design website at www.openwebdesign.org.
I learned how to do the stationary menu bar from reading notes by AndyA, www.andya.org.uk.
Drop-shadowed headers are coded using the technique of Craig Saila at www.saila.com/usage/shadow
I learned a lot about advances in web coding since the last time I learned this stuff (mid 90s) and good overall practices from reading the work of John Zaitseff at www.zap.org.au/~john
My thanks to all.
