How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven. - Robert A. Heinlein
Alec & Smokey (Index is at bottom of page)
Alec: when you see an adult cat,
you forget how small they can be when they're kittens - note his size when compared to the
mechanical pencil.
Awww... doesn't everybody want to be a kitten?
On the attack! This is an old scratching post we've had for years and years...
when we got Alec is was obviously time to dust it off and put it to use. (Smokey later
destroyed that mouse, tearing it off the cord and eating half the fur)
the eating habits of cats. So far,
Smokey has eaten: half the fur off their first mouse toy, the pebbles inside it that made it
rattle, ranch dressing licked off a piece of lettuce, a wood chip, corn (anything that falls
on the floor belongs to a cat), potato & tortilla chips, a green bean (no, wait... Alec
ate the green bean, after stealing it off my plate), foam packing 'peanuts', and Total cereal...
in addition to the usual things such as cat food, spiders & bugs, tuna, and hairballs.
Hang in there, baby! (I know... corny) I slapped together that platform from scrap
stuff found around the house, and mounted the old scratching post on top of it - both kittens
immediately loved it, and used it for almost everything except eating and going to the
bathroom.
That's a 2x4 wrapped in cloth that he's sitting on top of... gives you a good idea of his
size at the time.
That post is a 5 foot long 2x4, attached to the side of the platform I built. Both of
them like(d) zipping up and down the post, and would even battle each other while they were
both on it.
No explanation needed...
Cats love empty boxes... even cuter, he used to flip it over and get underneath it,
then crawl (scoot madly, actually) all around the floor like a demented turtle.
Both kittens love playing with my dog tags, whether I'm wearing them or not.
Time out! The Terror Twins at rest... for the moment.
Diver down! Alec investigates the trash can in the office.
A well-deserved nap at the end of the day... even if it is in the flower basket in the
bathroom.
