Multiplayer requires broadband TCP/IP or LAN connection NOTE: if you play this on a Win XP machine, it is recommended that you set the compatibility for Win98. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- UPDATES / PATCHES: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- BINDING (CREATE YOUR OWN HOTKEYS AND MACROS) You can bind commands to a key to form a macro... for example, in your setup, you can change the key that allows you to Jump. Binding is for those commands that aren't listed in your setup (okay, the cheats). This way you can create a macro (hotkey) for any command you can think of, providing you don't run out of keys on your keyboard. First things first: back up the original file "...\Unreal Tournament 2004\System\user.ini" in a separate directory - save it in a zip file, maybe. Worse comes to worst, you can restore it easily enough. Open "User.ini" with any plain text editor (such as PFE or Notepad) - do NOT use a word processor. At the very top is a short section where the character you set up will be listed, followed by a long list of "Aliases" commands - don't play with either of those sections. Immediately after that are the various key binds - most of them are set up via the Settings menu, and shouldn't be played with. The numbers (0-9) are for your weapons, the 'F' are for various program tasks (example: F9=shot - during the game, hit F9 to take a screenshot which gets saved in a special directory), and then there are the letters. Every letter should have something associated with it - if a letter isn't in the list, you can add it yourself, keeping the same format. You can also change any of the letters that you want - for example, v=SpeechMenuToggle -- hit that during the game to select a menu where you can choose what taunt you want to use, etc... pretty much useless (and can get you killed if you spend enough time going through the menu), so you can change it to whatever you want, such as: V=enablecheats Now whenever you run the program, just hit your 'v' key to enable the cheats. Cheats are listed at the end of this document. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE WEAPONS - UNREAL The numbers in front of each weapon below are the top row of your keyboard... hit that to automatically switch to that weapon. There are, however, more weapons than can be handled by the numbers... scrolling through them is a good idea (if a little slow at times). Most of the weapons have a secondary fire to them. 1 - Shield Gun You always have this - hold down your primary fire key and run at an opponent... the concussion from the weapon will smash them backwards or maybe even kill them. Definitely a weapon of last resort if you don't have anything else. Secondary Fire: hold it down to form a shield in front of you. However, you can't fire weapons while the shield is being used. Ammo: n/a (infinite ammo) 2 - Assault Rifle The other weapon you'll always have - a basic machinegun. Nice, but you definitely need to find better. If you pick up a second Assault Rifle, you'll be able to fire both at once, doubling your firepower. Secondary Fire: a grenade launcher. Ammo: Clips 3 - Fires little metal darts rapidly. Secondary Fire: fires a spread of 5 darts. Ammo: Tarydium shards 4 - ASMD Your basic rail gun. Slow firing but fairly powerful. Secondary Fire: rapid fire Ammo: ASMD cores 5 - Eightball Cannon A nice little rocket thrower... good for blasting just about anything. Hold down the fire button for up to 5 clicks to launch a spread of up to 5 rockets. If you hold the cursor on your target before firing, it will lock on and the rocket will home on the target. Secondary Fire: grenade launcher, more or less - hold down your alt fire key for up to five clicks and release, and up to 5 rockets will eject from the gun and explode together a moment later. Ammo: Eightballs 6 - Flak Cannon Shoots shrapnel. Be careful, the ricochets can hurt you. Probably the most useful weapon in the game. Secondary Fire: shrapnel grenade launcher. Ammo: Flak shells 7 - Razorjack Ye old flechette weapon, spitting razor-sharp blades. They bounce all over the place, so be careful. Secondary Fire: turns it sideways - perfect for shooting into narrow areas. 8 - GES Biorifle This thing fires toxic waste (Tarydium Sludge) that sticks to everything and eventually explodes. Not the most useful weapon in the world. Secondary Fire: fires a larger blob. Ammo: Tarydium sludge 9 -Rocket Launcher What else? Long distance, but slow. Nicely powerful; two shots will kill anyone, usually. Secondary Fire: loads up all three rockets if you hold the button down. Hit your primary fire button just as it's loading the third rocket and all three will be fired in a tight spiral pattern; otherwise they'll fire in a spread. Ammo: Rockets 0 - Sniper Rifle / Lightning Gun Which one you get depends on what map you're playing, or how you have things set up. A little slow to fire, but nicely powerful... both are good sniper weapons. Secondary Fire: scope Ammo: Sniper Rounds / Lightning Ammo Special Labels: kill 15 victims with head shots to get labelled a "Headhunter". Special Weapons: some of these are only available in certain gametypes, such as "Assault" or "Onslaught". Once you pick one of these up, you'll have to scroll through your weapons to get to it. These are one-use-only weapons, and don't have a secondary fire. Redeemer - fires a nuclear bomb. You definitely don't want to fire this at a target close to you. Ion Painter - hold down your primary fire key while aiming at a target... after 5 or 6 seconds a satellite in orbit will launch a cluster of missiles at the target. Target Painter ("Onslaught" only) - much like the Ion Painter, holding down the fire key while aimed at a target will summon a fast moving bomber to plaster the target. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- SHIELD & HEALTH These are the usual. Heal up, armor up. Health Cross: semi-transparent crosses which heal 5 points. Can only be used if your health is under 100. Health Vial: a blue test tube, it adds 5 points to your health, all the way up to 199. In some games you can pick these up even if your health is at 199, which denies them to others. Big Keg O' Health: a big silver and blue beer keg thing, it increases your health to 199. Shield Armor: an orange shield, it adds 50 points to your armor. Can only be picked up once per game. Super Shield Armor: an orange shield with a lightning slash through it. Adds 100 points to your armor, up to a max of 150. Sometimes it can be picked up even if your armor is at 150, which denies it to others. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE GOOD GUYS The only Good Guys in the game are any of your teammates in "Team Deathmatch", "Assault", "Capture the Flag" and "Onslaught". Everybody else should be killed. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE BAD GUYS Everybody. Simple enough, huh? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- =============================================================================================== -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- == SINGLE PLAYER TOURNAMENT == = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE CHEATS Open your console (the ~ key), type in the cheat, and hit Enter... then close the console. OR... you can 'bind' the cheats to a key, so all you need to do is hit that key, rather than opening the console and typing it in. See the "Binding" section at the top of this document for a how to. Capitalization doesn't matter - just type it in. Using cheats in the Single Player Tournament will get your character name replaced with "CHEATER!" in the scores. I don't know if cheats work in Multiplayer or not. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- COPYRIGHTS: "Unreal Tournament 2004" is copyright 2004 Epic Games (http://www.epicgames.com/), Official site is http://www.unreal.com =============================================================================================== SIGNATURE David "Nightwolf" Masters -- david_masters AT comcast DOT net the Roundhouse -- http://home.comcast.net/~david_masters/roundhouse (Railroad Tycoon II) TerokNor -- http://tnhp.tvheaven.com/ (Star Trek silly, filks, fanfic) personal site -- http://home.comcast.net/~david_masters/games.htm LiveJournal site -- http://community.livejournal.com/nightwolf_jfo Walkthroughs / FAQs: Cryostasis Doom II / Doom for Windows 95 Doom 3 Far Cry F.E.A.R. - First Encounter Assault Recon F.E.A.R. - Extraction Point F.E.A.R. - Perseus Mandate Half-Life Platinum Edition (Half-Life, Opposing Forces, Counter Strike, Blue Shift) Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Prey Quake Ultimate (Quake I, Quake II, Quake III Arena) Quake 4 Return to Castle Wolfenstein Serious Sam: The First Encounter Serious Sam: The Second Encounter Serious Sam 2 Unreal Gold (Unreal, Return to Na Pali) Unreal Tournament 2004 [UT2004] Editing / Scenarios / Strategies: Railroad Tycoon II Railroad Tycoon III Tropico Tropico 2: Pirate Cove Zeus / Poseidon May/June 2010 -- walkthrough; version 1
