golden days at charleston beach
you were easy to touch but hard to reach
the puppet shows at winston park
we collected stars for their wooden hearts
we wrote our song on the fallen leaves
then they blew away with autumn breeze

i shouldn't wish for anything ever
i used to think that love was forever
but loves the word that's so very clever
angela now you're never
hanging clouds in a stormy sky
painting spouts above my raining eyes
mixing shadows in a dirty glass
along with water and gin and a million laughs

broken china in my flower garden
with the dying plants that beg your pardon
oh oh oh i keep on saying
maybe it's a dream and i'll be waking
back in your heart
i shouldn't wish for anything ever
i used to think that love was forever
but loves the word that's so very clever
angela now you're never
i'll always want but i'll never ask
cause every time she'll flash back
love is funny but i'll never laugh
angela now you're never

David Humphrey:  guitars, vocals & overdubs
Tom Hooker:  bass guitar
Brian Hewitt:  drums & percussion

What I remember:  We recorded the guitar, bass and drums in the heat of the summer of 75. After every take we would pause to turn on the window air conditioner unit. Most of the recording sessions didn't begin until 9:00 pm and would last to the early morning.
