Greetings!
As you may know, I am a candidate for a seat on the Livermore (LVJUSD) School Board. My candidacy is the culmination of many years as an involved parent and supporter of Livermore Schools. My volunteer service includes:
- Dollar-A-Day Campaign founder
- Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF) President
- Math tutor
- Oversight Committee for Measure D (the parcel tax passed in 2005)
- Portola Elementary School Site Council member
My husband of twenty-four years and I have two children, both of whom have attended public schools. My son just started college and my daughter is a student at Junction Avenue Middle School. After graduating from University of Washington, I served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
Having worked as a parent volunteer in and on behalf of Livermore schools for a number of years, I feel well prepared for the position of School Board Member. This job will present new challenges and opportunities. If elected, I look forward to:
- Keeping the district fiscally sound
- Improving student performance
- Retaining and recruiting the best personnel possible
There are four candidates vying for three seats in the November election. My election committee and I are relying on the generosity of supporters like you to make our campaign successful. Please consider a donation. Checks should be made out to “The Committee to Elect Kate Runyon” and mailed to the address above.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I can be reached at krunyon@comcast.net. With your help, I feel sure that I will win a seat on the School Board, where I plan to continue working to improve educational opportunities for the students of Livermore. Thank you in advance for your support.
