The transmisson case on the stand.

The gear train removed.

The very worn input shaft splines - why I decided the transmission needed further repair.
Of course, I found a few other problems....

The front bearing cage is missing. All of the balls are there,
but they are no longer held evenly spaced!
The small curved piece on the bench is a broken shaft seal.

The oil pump splines are not in good shape either.

From left to right:
Oil pump, input shaft, "A" drum / clutch pack and band, 1st planetary gear
2nd planetary gear, 2nd clutch pack and "B" drum / clutch 1 (band not visible).

The bearings for the planetary gears seem to be worn,
as are the splines that engage the A clutch.
The rest of the gears and bearings look ok.

The distributor (A) directs oil from the valve body through passages
in the concentric shafts (B) (C).

Closer view of shaft "B".

From left to right:
The "C" drum, 3rd planetary gear, housing containing clutch 2 and 3.

The ring gear for the 3rd planetary, 4th planetary, end cover.

The 4th planetary and end cover.
