Mahogany End Table

 


 

 

 

 

This is a small mahogany end table I built for a customer. It measures 29 1/2 inches tall, 12 inches wide, and 18 inches long. The legs are 1 3/4 inches square. I used this project to try out several techniques I had not used before.

First, the four apron pieces are connected to the legs using pocket hole joints. I found this to be a very quick and strong means of joinery.

Second, I tried my hand at putting an inlayed pattern in the top. The inlay material is lacewood which seems to go well with the mahogany.

The stretchers at the base of the legs are dovetailed for strength and looks. Three were used instead of just one in the center because the customer requested a place to put newspapers or magazines. 

These are the first project pictures taken with my new digital camera. This was much easier than waiting to use up a roll of film, have it developed, and scan the pictures into the computer.
