Applying The Finish

 

    The entire surround and mantle received a hand rubbed Danish oil finish. For extra protection, the top surface of the mantle shelf received two wipe-on coats of Waterlox satin. After the oil was dry, I applied two coats of paste wax to everything and buffed.
