This project was commissioned by a friend who wanted a "miniature" Lane Cedar Chest to give as a birthday present to her father. The chest is sized to fit nicely on a night stand or dresser and store small personal items such as jewelry.

The chest measures 9-inches long, 4 1/2-inches deep, and 4 3/8-inches tall. The base wood is mahogany, the top is lacewood, and the corner "keys" are purpleheart. The small brass hinges have positive 90º stops to prevent the top from falling back. The finish is hand rubbed Danish oil followed by a quality paste wax and final buffing. In the absence of a cedar lining and to give the inside a cedar aroma, two coats of Oil of Cedar were applied and allowed to dry.
