Twin Size Bed

I built this bed out of red oak as part of a group of furniture for a little girl's bedroom. All the joinery is mortise and tenon. The bed rails are attached using heavy duty steel bed rail fasteners mortised into the rails and posts. The posts are all 2 3/4 inches square.

To achieve the color requested by the customer, no stain was needed. I applied three coats of polyurethane; the last being a coat of satin. This gave the wood the slight amber tone she was looking for.

Unfortunately, the only photos I have are some I took before applying the finish, and one taken by the customer after setting up the bed at home. The lighting was poor, so the color looks darker than it really was.
