Hutch Style Scrap Booking Desk

I custom built this desk for a client to accommodate her scrapbook making hobby. She had special storage requirements, which I incorporated into the design. The large desktop provides a generous work surface. The desk features three drawers. There is a shallow pencil drawer for storage of markers and measuring supplies. The top drawer is large enough to store an assortment of supplies and the bottom drawer is a full extension file drawer. The file drawer holds special sized hanging folders for storing the 12" by 12" papers used in scrapbook making.

The hutch unit features fixed shelving that accommodates various sized plastic storage containers. The four doors feature concealed hinges on the outer doors. The two inner doors open in a bi-fold style and are hinged to the outer doors using piano hinges.

I built this desk from solid red oak stock and cabinet grade red oak plywood. The finish consists of a Spanish oak stain followed by four coats of Waterlox rubbed to a satin finish.
