This student's desk is from a plan by Norm Abram and The New Yankee Workshop on PBS. A customer asked for this desk since it would be strong enough to stand up to the torture his son would surely put it through. It's frame is made from red oak. The panels are 3/4 inch MDF covered with a plastic laminate. The oak has a clear polyurethane finish on it.

The desk is built strong and will stand the test of time. After the customer had the desk at home he told me he went into his son's room one day and found him standing in one of the drawers. I asked if there was any damage to the drawer. He said, "No, but his son's rear end didn't fare as well"!
