The Cornice Unit

This cornice unit was a challenge because the miters had opened up on both corners. I removed the glue blocks on the inside that would have prevented me from applying pressure with clamps. After getting some hide glue on all the surfaces, I put on enough clamps to pull everything together again. Afterwards I set the finish nail heads that were protruding from the surface and put putty over them. Once this dried, I sanded the entire cornice.

cornice_miters.jpg (18977 bytes) After removing the interior glue blocks in each corner, I applied some hide glue and brought the miters back together with some clamps. I glued the corner glue blocks back in place and let it all dry.
