Drawers

 


 

 

The drawers only needed a few simple repairs. One required injecting some hide glue into a small split in one of the sides towards the bottom rear corner. The drawers were dovetailed at the front and rear, which held them together well through the years.

The other repair was to replace a missing brass escutcheon in one drawer. I located a new escutcheon that would fit the existing keyhole. After removing a small amount of wood with a sharp chisel, I tapped it in with a small hammer.

Like on the doors, the metal drawer pulls were removed and I plugged the 1/2 inch holes where the original wood pulls were.
