Repairing The Top

After removing the top, the edges of both pieces needed to be straightened on the jointer. Next I cut slots for #20 biscuits to helps with alignment and strengthen the joint which had come apart before. After the parts were clamped, I filled the nail holes and sanded the entire top.

 

The tricky part here was to try and "pull" the warp or "hump" out as much as possible with the help of the biscuits and then sand the area to further reduce it without leaving a noticeable low spot in the top.
