These days I mostly listen to folk singer/songwriter music. There's something incredible about an artist who can capture the attention of the audience with just a guitar, their voice, and lyrics that have meaning. These are my current favorites:
Deb Talan - Her latest album "A Bird Flies Out" is my current favorite album. Deb and her collaborator Steve Tannen are touring as the Weepies
Edie Carey - Edie tours seemingly non-stop, you should check her out if you get a chance. Plus she was born the day before I was, which is so cool!
Lori McKenna - Now a mother of five and a successful folk singer at the same time. Her lyrics are absolutely incredible!
My favorite Musical Genius/Icon is David Byrne of the Talking Heads. You can also listen to his playlist on David Byrne Radio and read his Online Journal!
