The Stauffer Garden

Stauffer
Jim Stauffer cultivates and evaluates daylilies at his home in Lititz, PA (north of Lancaster). This garden is used for testing daylilies to be marketed by Stauffer of Kissel Hill, a family owned wholesale/retail nursery. These daylilies are selected for northern hardiness, good performance and re-bloom. The garden contains two sections of daylilies; a display area and test area. The large display area, seen from the street, is planted in mass for color and effect. The test area is made up of several large beds planted in groups of the same plant for evaluation and comparison purposes. Only about 170 cultivars are grown here but the planting method gives the illusion of many more varieties.
