THE MYTH OF AGING! Many of us want to live to a ripe old age and our preference is to do
be able to age gracefully with a level of vitality and alertness which
will allow us
to move around and remember our children. Traditional signs of
aging are the the outcome of life choices experienced over many years.
These choices may allow changes in our bodies to occur that can enhance
factors for joint pain, arthritis, allergies, headaches, diabetes,
fatigue, irritability and many other miscellaneous symptoms that we
attribute to aging.
|
More and more we are beginning to understand that these initial
warning signs may be caused by sub-optimal nutrient intake. Eating
processed foods which destroy or eliminate much of the nutritional value
of food makes it difficult for any of us to consume the identified
vitamin and mineral Recommended Daily Allowance, RDA. The
RDA's are not set to track optimum health. They are set to track
the bare minimum needed to prevent such serious nutritional deficiencies
such as scurvy.

FEED YOUR BODY AND MIND FOR YOUR
FUTURE! Adding vitamin and mineral
supplements to your daily routine is the most solid method of addressing
nutritional deficiencies. A good daily multi-vitamin
supplement is a wise added insurance. Making sure that your daily
multi-vitamin is formulated for persons over 50 years of age, will help
ensure the nutritional challenges we face moving into our later 1/3rd of
our lives are addressed.
In addition, supplementing
with additional anti-oxidants such as E, C, Selenium is a good way to
ensure the damaging effects of free radicals is limited. Vitamin
E is an excellent way to support your heart and arteries. The two
Dr. Shute brothers used Vitamin E extensively in prevention and
rehabilitation of heart attacks. If you are taking an
anti-coagulant medication and add Vitamin E to your daily regime, be
sure to monitor your medication levels with your doctor as you may be
able to reduce your medication levels. Vitamin C not only aids
your immune systems, but also helps repair and build collagen.
Also, as
we age, most of us begin to have difficulty getting enough B vitamins.
Deficiencies in Vitamin B can appear very similar to Alzheimer's Disease
with increased forgetfulness and signs of confusion. Our stomachs begin to slow and the process of extracting B vitamins
becomes impaired. Adding a good B complex is a great way to help
increase assimilation.
