Black Tornado (renamed after the local
college team, the Iowa State Cyclones) Einstein Was Wrong About this performance: From: KevinR {edited to separate setlist and review...} Another great little venue. Wider-than-long, thrust stage, 3 panels of beautiful stained glass behind the stage. Cheap beer, too. No smoking (normally bad for me) but I didn't notice. This was a mezmerizing show-- both sets. A much different feel than the previous night: this was intimate, chatty, everyone was seated and attentive. I saw his mom-- no sister. Again, a light, mellow, chatty set. The crowd hung on every word. <setlist removed, comments that follow were orignally mixed in with the songs> Before "Bright Lights": "Now I'm going to get a little rude." I was impressed-- not many people can sing "Strap on your dildo baby, tonight I wanna get fucked in the ass" in front of their mother. During "Jerusalem": Just as he sang "I am the Messiah," the mike dropped. He said, "Okay... hmmm... what's he trying to tell me here..." He decided that he was being told not to use a mike. So he didn't. After "You Are On My Mind": He started to play "I Play My Guitar" again, and some guy whooped. He stopped and said, "Wait a minute. I played this already!! (pointed towards the guy) And YOU supported this!" Big laugh. After starting "Joe Van Gogh", he said, "Nah. I'm sick of him." At the start of the encore: "My Dad told me once you had to touch the dressing room door for it to be a real encore." |
