January 14th, 2007: A drive in the Country

Sunday, the 14 of January found us all suffering from cabin fever, and thought it was a wonderful day for a drive about the greater Olympia area. Andrea had recently gone to a digital photography seminar by Nikon, and we were both eager to practice our fledgling photography skills. We stuffed the kids in the car, grabbed the D50, and a big bag of fresh beef jerky (from the Rib-O-Matic 3000)tm, and we were off.

We headed south east, toward some beautiful farmlands where we had looked at buying a house once upon a time. We both recalled the great scenery, and speculated the light snow we had received the last week might make it look magical. We were right.

Icicle bedecked rocks are always 'cool'...get it? Yuk, yuk, yuk!

Andrea took these two shots of the forest primeval.

For my part, I can't pass up an old barn as a photo subject.

We had a wonderful time, driving, playing in the snow, looking for neat shots, and eating delicious beef jerky from the Rib-O-Matic 3000tm.  It was a beautiful day, and we all had lots of fun.
