About the band...

Back Pages was formed in February 1998 (click here for the lineup). We started out with Tim, Kathy and Dean with recorded drum and rhythm tracks. This is a fairly common approach these days -- even some big-name concert acts perform with pre-recorded tracks sometimes.  But, it didn't seem to go over well in our local bars.

In August 1999 we began looking for a drummer, and right before our Buckingham's gig at Camel Rock Casino we found Kerry Cooper.  Kerry stayed with us for several months but in the spring of 2000, Kerry took the brown acid and joined a flying saucer commune in Nevada.  He's now performing around town with Sons of the Unlucky. .

While we were searching for Kerry's replacement we had an opportunity to open for Paul Revere and the Raiders.  Veteran Walt Lawenawski quickly stepped in, but that was his only performance with us.  Shortly afterward Doug Bond joined up.

In August of 2000 we asked keyboardist Ben Zuda to play with us.  Ben's keyboard, vocal and violin work added a whole new dimension to our sound.  In June of 2001 Ben left to pursue other projects.

Shortly thereafter Doug decided to try something new as well, so we found ourselves once again searching for a drummer.  As fate would have it, about then long-time Albuquerque classic rockers 8-Track were calling it quits, and we were fortunate to convince Bob Aitchison to give classic rock one more try.

We got along as a four-piece band for a year and a half. Then in January 2003 we discovered Larry Ashwood, a talented newcomer to the Albuquerque music scene. Larry weaves an exciting, captivating rhythm guitar around the Back Pages sound which is not only inspiring the rest of the band, but is making audiences sit up and take notice as well.

Although most of our performances in local clubs is classic rock hits, we are also writing original material. Watch for new sound clips to be posted on our web site soon.
