Pelvic Floor Ultrasound for Specialists:
A Multidisciplinary Approach

With Hands-On Workshop

November 14-15, 2008
Renaissance Hotel Blackstone
Chicago, Illinois

Objectives
New methods for imaging the pelvic floor using ultrasound may lead to an increased knowledge base with which physicians may improve clinical outcomes. In an environment where the distressing conditions of incontinence, prolapse, and pelvic floor dysfunction are costly and compete with heart disease, diabetes, and cancer for healthcare funding, it is now important to effectively best define the most efficient and effective curative treatments. Combining and differentiating the factors related to age, childbirth, trauma, obesity, and other neurobiologic effects, has historically proven to be complicated and challenging to specialists in the highly complex pelvic floor. Ultrasound imaging methods which integrate compartmental, functional, and vascular anatomy of the pelvic floor may provide a key to unlocking the door into better understanding of causes and effects of highly challenging conditions of the pelvic floor.

Target Audience
This workshop is intended to provide urogynecologists, colorectal surgeons, and urologists with a working knowledge of why and how and to perform complete ultrasound examinations of the pelvic
floor. Transperineal, endovaginal, endoanal, and high-resolution 3D methods will be addressed.
