Report of the 2008-2009 President
of the
Durham Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

I have greatly enjoyed being President of the Fellowship this year. Although it has at times been challenging, I have fallen down in some areas, and have not accomplished everything that I desired, it has been a very rewarding experience. I want to thank every member and friend of the Fellowship for supporting me in my efforts, and particularly the Board Chairs, both standing and special committee, who are so integral to our success as “DUUFers.” My year in office has afforded me the opportunity to learn much more about how Unitarian Universalism works, as well as how we “UUers” in this country and throughout the world continually let our light shine as a beacon on this fractious planet.

Efforts that have been begun this year which the Board hopes will be continued next year are becoming a Welcoming Congregation, which involves the entire congregation, a proposed link with the Campus Ministry at the University of Nigeria (we have sent them copies of our UU hymnals), and a possible linking with the Nottingham UU Church for a joint grant proposal of some type. You will hear more about these activities as they progress.

I look forward to presenting my report from the First Northern New England District (NNED) Conference this month, and my attendance at the UUA General Assembly in Salt Lake City, Utah, which is in June, at the opening meeting of the Fellowship in September. Our 2009-2010 year will be very special, with our expansion and renovations, and the beginning of our three-year DUUF Anniversary.
