Social Action at DUUF

Social action at our Fellowship takes many forms. Some Sunday services are devoted to issues of social justice, and the Fellowship as a whole organizes action projects that involve members directly and also makes donations on behalf of the Fellowship to a variety of organizations. Individual members, of course, are also active in many organizations, make donations on an individual basis, and participate in various activities (most recently, for example, attendance at a peace conference and peace rallies, attending death penalty vigils in Concord).

Our Fellowship is currently participating in the Interfaith Hospitality Network, teaming with the Stratham Community Church in an effort to help turn around the lives of local homeless families. You can read one volunteer's reflections on her experience in preparing food for the homeless in "But for Fortune."

We are also beginning the process of making our Fellowship a "Green Sanctuary," developing a plan of action for programs and practices that are environmentally responsible and sustainable.

Our first speaker last September was from the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee's Just Democracy organization, who provided us with information on actions we can take with regard to peace and to climate change.
