About our Fellowship

The Durham Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (DUUF) began its history with meetings in family homes, organizing officially in 1959 and incorporating in 1962, and we have been active continuously since then. Today we have 62 adult members in 41 families (plus a number of long-time friends) and about 30 youth of all ages.

We are affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and are a part of the Northern New England District. We are a liberal religious community and honor the UUA Principles and Purposes.

We are an entirely lay-led Fellowship (no minister, although visiting ministers conduct several of our services over the course of a year); all that we are is through the volunteer efforts of our members and friends.

You can learn more about us by checking out the other pages on this site and taking a look at our newsletter, HEED. In it you will find information on upcoming Sunday programs, social events, social action focus, youth activities, and more.

Becoming a Member

Joining is a way of expressing commitment both to the Fellowship and to the larger Unitarian Universalist community. As a member of a UU church, society or fellowship, you receive a subscription to UU World, a monthly publication of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

To become a member of the Durham Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, you need only signify that you are in agreement with our mission statement and with the UUA Principles and Purposes and sign our membership book in the presence of one of the Fellowship officers.
