Our Domestic Photo Album

Welcome to our Dome Home!  We have a few pictures to show you.

We live in a dome home, in the middle of the woods, in Franklin Township,  South Jersey.  To those who do not live in the area, the term "South Jersey" may seem confusing.  However, to the inhabitants of "New" Jersey, there are only South Jersey (near Philadelphia), and North Jersey (near New York City).  Although our home is only 25 miles from center city Philadelphia, our township is so rural that there are no public water or sewer facilities.  Everyone has his own well and septic system.

This is our home on a foggy morning in early spring, showing the newly-screened-in front porch   The "dome" part of our home was constructed according to the methods developed by Timberline Geodesics.  If it were not for Timberline, and especially Bob Singer, its President, our dream home would never have been built.  For more information on dome homes, check out  Timberline Geodesics.

The picture above is an older view from the fall, just before the leaves were beginning to fall. The ground around the house is heavily wooded, mostly with oak, maple, pine, holly, and cedar.

Building Our Dome:
In South Jersey, trees are weeds.  If you let a piece of property go without attention for a few years, it will be covered with trees.  Fortunately, some of us aren't all that upset by trees, especially those of us who have lived in areas where trees are the exception rather than the rule.  Our house was built around the trees already on the property.  Of course, some had to be removed, but we spent a lot of time deciding which ones would go and which ones would stay.  One which we liked was the white pine in the center of this picture (covered with an early April snow).  Click on the picture to see our home rising behind the tree.

The Inside Story:
Yes, that's an old picture of us relaxing in the pool room. Click here to see more of the inside of our home.

Our Welcoming Staff:
Every home needs a staff to enthusiastically greet visitors upon their arrival.  Here we see Rudolph (Rudy) performing another of his daily tasks, cleaning Mildred's (Millie's) ears.

Flora and Fauna:
Living in the woods was a new experience for us, basically city-folk.  Included here are some of our natural surroundings.

The pictures above show the front porch screened; this is a real advantage in our buggy environment. The pictures below are older and show the porch before screening.
