The Inside Story
The most frequently asked question about our home is: "What is it like inside?"
We hope the following pictures will help answer that question.

The First Floor

The Foyer
As the name implies, this is the the first room as you come into the house.  In the upper picture, the kitchen is straight ahead, and the pool room to the left.  The opening at the upper right leads to one of the upstairs bedrooms.   The movie room is toward the back of the picture below.
The foyer and pool room have a number of large planters (indicated by tan on the floorplan).  These, along with the high ceilings, allow us to have some very large plants.

Living (Movie) Room
We watch movies here.  This picture is a bit dated, but we use it because it shows two beloved staff members who are now departed, G.G. and Babette.  The beige curtains shown here have been replaced by darker ones so that we can watch movies even on bright sunny days.

Dining Room/Family Room
Our daughter Val and son-in-law Mike in the dining room-family room.  The smaller picture shows the hallway from the living room into the dining room.

Kitchen
This is looking from the dining room; the windows in the back go into the pool room. The hallway at the right leads to the guest bedroom and bathroom.

Bathroom and Laundry
The bathroom view is from the poolroom door.

Guest bedroom
The window at left is into the poolroom.

The Tiki Hut
Rose (Edgar's Mom) and staff member Millie relaxing in the tiki hut, which is a small sitting area adjacent to the pool.  The French doors near the tiki hut lead to the foyer.
  Pool Room
Our daughter Stephanie (aka "Crazy Aunt Stephanie") and her friend Bryan enjoy the pool during a Christmas visit.

Screened Porch
Joanne, Keith, Mike, Val, and Rudy enjoy an early fall afternoon.

Continue upstairs, or follow Millie back to the album cover.

Second Foor

The second floor.
The picture with the Staff is taken from the top of the stairway. The glass block behind the lamp allows light into the bathroom vanity area (picture at right).  Both doorways lead into the same bedroom (Bedroom 1 in the plan).  The stairway behind the plant and above the Staff  goes to the loft.

Upstairs bedroom
Staff member Rudy demonstating the proper use of a bed in "Bedroom 2".  Behind him is the "egress" window required by code for every bedroom.  The small white stepstool in the foreground is provided for Staff member Millie so that she can get onto the bed without assistance (she is vertically challenged).  The French doors look out over the foyer.
View from "Bedroom 1".
Staff member Millie shares the view of the pool room and tiki hut.  The smaller picture is taken from the tiki hut looking up toward the French door; the door next to the striped towels leads to the downstairs bathroom.
Lipstick Plant
The pot just above Millie's head contains a lipstick plant which blooms in mid-winter.

Upstairs bathroom.
This bathroom is on the north side of the house, so we used lots of glass block to keep it from from being too dark.  The glass block at the very top allows light in from the loft.  As is apparent from the color of the leaves (triangular window above tub), this picture was taken in the fall.

Loft

View from the loft.
The taller picture looks down on the foyer from the loft; the other view is toward the pool room (roof of tiki hut below).  The pool room is separated from the rest of the house by windows so that we don't have the humidity everywhere.

The office
The glass block behind Edgar allows light from the loft skylight to pass into the bathroom.
