Golden Gate Corkscrew Collectors
Past Events

Hello San Francisco Bay Area & West Coast Corkscrew Collectors!

Founded in November 1999

Not technically a branch of the Canadian Corkscrew Collectors Club, nor of any other corkscrew collectors' club, but with similar goals, the Golden Gate Corkscrew Collectors (GGCC) was formed and has enjoyed a number of dinner and extended week end meetings for San Francisco Bay area corkscrew collectors. Attendance is not exclusive to SF bay area collectors, but open to anyone serious about collecting corkscrews. All members of the CCCC or any other corkscrew collectors' clubs are welcome to attend if wishing to visit northern California. We have no membership fees, nor officers. The cost for attending our events is always charged at cost.

Our inaugural meeting on November 5th, 1999 was at Jack's Restaurant in San Francisco. See details of that and consequent meetings below in 'GGCC Past Events'.

Take note of the announced dates and brief details for future meetings. See 'Future Events' just below.
Full details will be forthcoming.

Anchor Brewing
San Francisco, Ca

Anchor Brewing's current brewery on Potrero Hill

Ed Bystran, with the help of some friends, hosted this memorable meeting at Anchor Brewing, San Francisco's oldest brewery operating under the same name, since 1896. We couldn't have found a better historic venue in the city than this one. Anchor not only boasts a great history, but produces some of the best lagers and ales today. We enjoyed a private tour of the brewery, followed with our buy/sell/trade event in the tap room, then capped the evening with a fine catered dinner served with some of Anchor's best ales and beers, including its famous Steam Beer. The theme for the 'show & tell' feature of the meeting was, appropriately 'brewery advertising corkscrews'. About 40 people attended, with some visiting from as far away as Tennessee and British Columbia.

Adventure in West Marin - Tomales Bay

Our weekend began with a sumptuous picnic & barbecue at Hog Island Oyster Company in the charming bay shore town of Marshall...raw & barbecued oysters, barbecued chicken & sausage, steamed clams, good bread, local cheeses & pale ale on tap...yumm! Our meeting & dinner was held at the lovely Marconi Conference Center, a California State Park facility also in Marshall, overlooking beautiful Tomales Bay. All enjoyed our traditional 'show & tell' featuring fancy handled corkscrews, & the 'buy-sell-trade'. Members stayed the night in peaceful comfort at the Marconi Center, rising early the following morning for breakfast, then moving on to San Anselmo for an open house at Vintage Antiques where hundreds of corkscrews from the Kirk collection were freed from their storage boxes & put on sale for the first time in years.
