Our Anglican Heritage...
Holy Trinity Cathedral is the mother church in the
Diocese of Delmarva, a member parish of
Forward
in Faith North America a body of Anglicans faithful to orthodox understanding of Holy Scripture and the
teaching of the Church. Like all Anglicans the churches, the parishes of Forward in Faith trace their
roots in English Christianity which dates to at least the 2nd century A.D.
Forward in Faith was formed in the 1970s as a positive response to the drift away from
orthodox Anglicanism occurring in the Episcopal Church.
"The purpose of Forward in Faith, North America, is to uphold the historic Faith,
Practice and Order of the Church Biblical, Apostolic and Catholic, and to resist all efforts to deviate from it.
To this end, Forward in Faith, North America, seeks to minister pastorally and sacramentally to all who are faithful
to the Anglican Way, both within the Episcopal Church and outside it, while working internationally
and cooperatively for the creation of an orthodox Province of the Anglican Communion in North America."
One of the significant ways Forward in Faith has labored to this purpose is through its partnership in the
Common Cause Partnership, which is in the process of forming the
Anglican Church in North America.
The mission of the CCP is as follows:
We intend, by God's grace...
to partner together in a renewed missionary effort in North
America and beyond, driven by our passion for Jesus and His
Gospel.
to ensure an orthodox Anglican Province in North America
that remains connected to a faithful global Communion.
to create a unity in the essentials of our Anglican faith
that respects our varied styles and expressions.
to build trusting relationships marked by effective
coordination, collaboration, and communication.
Holy Trinity, therefore, is part of a communion
of churches that longs to see the Church united as Jesus prayed in
John 17 that the gospel might go forward throughout the world.
