A fictional Lighthouse was created using Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to produce a revolving Light on top of Twr Mawr Lighthouse located on Yns Llanddwyn, Anglesey, Wales. Twr Mawr Lighthouse was repainted red for the movie.

Apparently, the local Welsh community were outraged that their spiritual Island was used as a film set. The Island of Llanddwyn was founded by the female Saint Dwynwen, a patron saint of Welsh lovers, who was the Welsh equivalent of Saint Valentine. The name, Llanddwyn means the church of Saint Dwynwen.
History of Twr Mawr Lighthouse:
A conical stone daybeacon named Twr Bach was built in the early 1800s at the headland of Llanddwyn Island (which is a peninsula at low tide), located on the south shore of Anglesey, to guide slate shipping to the Menai Strait from the ports of Bangor, Caernarfon and Felinhelli.
In 1845, Twr Mawr Lighthouse was built nearby using the same design as the windmills of Anglesey. In 1975, Twr Mawr Lighthouse was deactivated and replaced by a modern Directional Light installed on the Twr Bach Beacon with an active white or red flash every 2.5-seconds 39-feet above sea level.
A Pilot House, a row of single story cottages, was built between the two Lighthouses to house maritime pilots who guided ships into Menai Strait. Some of the cottages have have been restored as a museum of local maritime history and another cottage houses a exhibition about the local wildlife.
