Please contact me if you'd like to help a graduate student with her dissertation as a participant in a study related to media.

I'm looking for women who have been in recovery from anorexia for at least 6 months, or have “fully recovered” from anorexia. You may also have had bulimia along with anorexia (I know they often overlap). I'm just concerned that you currently wouldn't be diagnosed with an eating disorder and are committed to continuing the recovery process.

I have recovered/am in recovery from anorexia and bulimia myself, and have gone through both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. I would greatly value your participation, and I will respect and protect your privacy, maintaining confidentiality and anonymity. I also have your best welfare in mind.

I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, but I am living in Decatur, Ga., which is near Atlanta.

I am interested in talking with you about your recovery process and your media perceptions. If you would like to participate in the study, I will ask you to complete a simple one-week media journal and participate in a 60-90 minute interview.

If you’re interested in participating, please contact me. You may sent a note to the account I've set up specifically for this study,
recoverystudy@yahoo.com, or you can choose to write to me using my personal account, which I check on a more frequent basis, debidemare@comcast.net. You also are welcome to call me, 912-531-3324.

All participation is voluntary, and you may contact me just to find out more information about the study, without committing to participating. You also may discontinue participation at any time, if you choose to do so.

The information from this study will used to provide a better understanding of the factors related to recovery from anorexia. Your participation also may help to improve treatment plans for other women seeking long-term recovery from anorexia.

I would greatly appreciate your help!

Thank you for taking the time to visit the site. :)
