Rutger Hauer starred in a film called LadyHawke with fellow actors Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick (1985). In gratitude to Rutger for making the Friesian Horse famous in the United States, Fred presented Rutger with a fairly green 3 year old Friesian at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Rutger was so excited to receive this gift that he insisted on riding him, even though he needed a little more training. Rutger and Fred became friends and the horse was taken back to reside with Rutger on his property in Friesland (Holland).
