A one-time silver and agriculture center that now relies on education as its economic basis, Socorro is the home of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. The school's Mineral Museum has some
10,000 mineral specimens from around the world. You can take a walking tour of the town's Victorian-era neighborhoods and visit the Mission of San Miguel near the pleasant central plaza.

Fifty miles west of Socorro, you can see the stunning VLA (Very Large Array) Radio Telescope.
The visitors center offers a fascinating insight into the workings and discoveries of these 27 synchronized
dishes that produce images of stars and quasars from deepest space.

A few miles south of Socorro, the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge offers a vast array of mammals, reptiles and birds, including the endangered whooping crane, among its 57,000 acres of fields and marshes. Along the refuge's 15-mile driving route, you'll find viewing platforms and towers, short nature trails, and longer day-hiking trails.

Riley. This town was famous for the bandits that hid out in the nearby Ladrones Mountains. Legend has it that over $50,000.00 in loot is still buried in the nearby mountains. Guess where we will be at night?

Water rights must be acquired before a well can be drilled and put into service.
Domestic Well Permit: For household use, and commercial lawn, trees, and
gardening. This permit allows you to pump 3 acre-feet of water per year
(about 1 million gallons). A domestic well permit can not be used for farm
irrigation or commercial purposes. Water Rights can be
bought and sold either with the land or separately.

A buyer can check with the State Engineer District Office in Albuquerque,
if a water right is owned by the seller, or how to go about obtaining a water right.
State regulations make water rights subject to forfeiture if water is not put to
beneficial use for four consecutive years and after notice is issued by the
State Engineer. This means that you must use the water as intended
by the water right or risk losing that right.

Nestled among the beautiful views of Ladron Peak and just a short drive from the historic mining town of Magdalena, New Mexico, lies the pictures-que ranchettes of Via De Manana.

Via De Mananna, with it’s wide open range, surrounded by working ranches and spotted by juniper, to it’s breathtaking views atop the vista, will provide a wide range of options for those wrangling to be a part of the old Southwest.

Just 20 minutes to the South of Via De Manana and 70 miles southwest of Albuquerque, is the rustic ole mining town of Magdalena, New Mexico.

Founded in the 1800’s when lead, zinc and silver mines abound, the town had many bars, hotels and gambling for the monetarily solvent cowboys. At one time in the early 1900’s the town was second only to Chicago in the number of livestock shipped. Today, you can take a leisurely stroll, back in time, with a historical walking tour of the Salome Store, the Magdalena Inn or the Box Car Museum located on Main Street. Ranchers in the area, today, cherish their independent lifestyle, depending on Magdalena and neighboring Datil for schools, supplies and socializing.

The pleasant sunny climate is ideal with temperatures averaging 85 degrees in the summer and 50 degrees in the winter.

The Very Large Array (VLA) located 23 miles to the west of Magdalena on the Plains of San Augustin with its 27 radio antennas, provides much of the information we know about distant galaxies.

Other lots in the same area have listed or sold $5,500 – $15,000 or more. For a price comparison, you can view a list of other sellers properties at:
